UK National Lottery Adds Powerball With Jackpots That Could Top £1 Billion

A massive new game is about to join the UK National Lottery, giving players a shot at some of the biggest jackpots ever offered. Starting July 21, UK players will be able to take part in Powerball, the famous U.S. lottery known for its record-breaking prizes.

What You Need to Know

  • Launch Date: July 21
  • Ticket Price: £4 per line
  • Draw Days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday (around 4 a.m. UK time)
  • Ticket Deadline: 11:55 p.m. the night before each draw

Unlike traditional National Lottery games, Powerball features an unlimited rolling jackpot. The grand prize starts at around £12 million, but if no one matches all the winning numbers, it keeps growing and could climb to £1 billion or even higher.

To win the jackpot, players must match all five main numbers plus the Powerball. There are also plenty of other prize levels, including:

  • £1 million for matching all five main numbers
  • £8 for matching two numbers
  • Additional cash prizes for other winning combinations

One major difference is how the jackpot is paid. Instead of receiving one lump sum, the top prize is distributed over 30 years.

Powerball tickets will be available through the National Lottery website, mobile app, and participating retailers across the UK.

The launch follows another recent National Lottery update, with Lotto now offering two chances to win during every Wednesday and Saturday draw for the same £2 ticket, giving players even more opportunities to cash in.

Allwyn UK CEO Andria Vidler said bringing Powerball to the UK is part of the company's plan to introduce bigger games, more innovation, and even more excitement while continuing to support good causes through National Lottery funding.
