A Wayne County man turned a simple $20 scratch-off into a jaw-dropping $2 million win. The 32-year-old picked up the 100X scratch-off at Fleck's Fresh Mart in Canton Township—and played it on a total whim.
“I was scratching one of the tickets, and when I saw I matched number 11 with ‘$2MIL’ underneath, I kept asking myself, ‘What does this mean?’” he told Michigan Lottery Connect. “I didn’t believe I really won $2 million at first.”
In disbelief, he even asked his mom to double-check the ticket. Her confirmation sent him over the moon. “When my mom told me it was a $2 million winner, I was so excited I didn’t know what to do with myself! Turning $20 into $2 million is unbelievable. It still doesn’t feel real—I don’t think it will fully sink in until I cash the check.”
The lucky winner has chosen the one-time lump sum of $1.3 million rather than taking annuity payments and plans to save most of it.
