Three months after their televised wedding, "The Golden Bachelor" stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist are calling it quits.

The couple revealed their decision to split in an interview on “Good Morning America.” Turner, 72, became famous as the first bachelor on ABC’s senior reality dating series. He's been living in Hudson, Indiana, since moving there with his first wife in 2017. She passed away shortly after.

In November 2023, America watched as Turner proposed to Nist, a financial services professional from New Jersey, after just three weeks of filming for the show.

“Theresa and I have had some deep conversations, reflecting on our situation, our life together, and we've both agreed that it's time to end our marriage,” Turner shared during the interview with journalist Juju Chang. Nist was one of 22 women over 60 who competed for Turner's heart on the show's first season. The finale, where Turner chose between Nist and fitness instructor Leslie Fhima from Minnesota, drew over six million viewers.

“We've been overwhelmed by the love and support from fans of ‘The Golden Bachelor.’ It's been heartwarming to hear how our story has inspired hope in so many people,” Nist said during the interview. “We hope that positivity continues for everyone.” Turner and Nist exchanged vows on January 4 in a ceremony broadcast live on ABC, with many of their fellow cast members in attendance. Susan Noles, a cast member, officiated the wedding.
