Rebel Wilson recently took to Instagram to reveal that it was comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen who is trying to stop the release of her upcoming memoir, "Rebel Rising." She had previously hinted at this in a post on March 15, where she referred to an unnamed "massive a**hole" in the industry who had threatened legal action over her intention to dedicate a chapter to exposing their behavior.
In a bold move, Wilson decided to name Baron Cohen in an Instagram story on Monday, asserting her right to speak up without being silenced by legal threats. She wrote, "I will not be bullied or silenced with high priced lawyer or PR crisis managers. The ‘a**hole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is Sacha Baron Cohen.”
Wilson and Baron Cohen had worked together on the 2016 comedy, “The Brothers Grimsby.” In 2014, Wilson recounted on a radio show an incident where Baron Cohen allegedly pressured her to do a nude scene, which she refused. Instead, during filming, Baron Cohen improvised a scene where he suggested a crude and unexpected action involving Wilson, which she found inappropriate.
Responding to Wilson's claims, a spokesperson for Cohen stated, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of 'The Brothers Grimsby,'” as reported by CNN.
Wilson's revelation adds a layer of drama to the already intriguing tale of her memoir, promising readers an inside look into Hollywood's workings and the challenges faced by its stars.
