Requiem for Slim Shady: Eminem's Musical Farewell

Written by Published

Guess who’s back? Slim Shady, making a comeback, but this time it might be a short-lived reunion.

Eminem, in his latest project, "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)," seems to be bidding farewell to his alter ego.

He's already dropped the first single, "Houdini," which samples the iconic Steve Miller Band’s '82 hit, “Abracadabra.” In the lyrics, he takes shots at a few folks, including Megan Thee Stallion and even himself. Wondering if he could ever collaborate with Megan, he references Tory Lanez’s 2020 incident involving her, a moment that landed Lanez in prison for a decade.

The music video for “Houdini” is star-studded, featuring appearances from his buddies like Paul Rosenberg and Dr. Dre, who playfully address the challenges of Eminem's new album. And there’s a twist - a portal that lets Eminem time travel back to 2002. With cameos from 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and Pete Davidson, it’s like a throwback party.

In the video, Eminem confronts his younger self, giving fans a nostalgic reminder of his iconic “Without Me” video from back in the day.

Adding to the drama, a mock obituary surfaced in the Detroit Free Press, declaring the demise of Slim Shady, describing him as a "rogue splinter" in the rap scene.

“The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” comes hot on the heels of Eminem's 2020 album, “Music to Be Murdered By.” The full album is set to drop this summer, promising fans a thrilling musical ride.
