Rhea Ripley's Reign Ends: WWE Women's World Championship Vacated Due to Injury

Written by Published

Rhea Ripley had to give up her WWE Women's World Championship on Monday due to a shoulder injury that will keep her out of action for months. The injury occurred during a backstage segment on "Monday Night Raw" after WrestleMania 40. Liv Morgan, in her ongoing quest to take down Ripley, attacked her with a chair, slamming her into a hallway wall, which is believed to have caused the injury.

During the latest episode of "Raw" on April 15, Ripley appeared in a sling and announced her injury, revealing she would be sidelined for quite a while. She placed her hard-earned title on the mat, promising to reclaim it upon her return, declaring, "When I come back, I'm coming back for blood."

This development marks the end of Ripley's impressive 380-day reign as Women's World Champion, surpassing Bayley's previous record of 379 days. Ripley initially won the title, then known as the Smackdown Women's Championship, at WrestleMania 39 by defeating Charlotte Flair on April 1, 2023. After moving to "Raw" following the 2023 WWE Draft, the title was rebranded as the Women's World Championship with a fresh design.

The injury has forced Ripley to focus on her recovery, but once she's back, the wrestling world can expect an intense comeback from the determined champion.
