The hunt for a lead actor in a spinoff of the hit series "Yellowstone" has come to a tragic end, as authorities discovered 27-year-old Cole Brings Plenty deceased in a wooded area near 200th and Homestead Lane. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office made the grim discovery after responding to a report of an unattended vehicle in the area around 11:45 a.m. on Friday.
Cole Brings Plenty, the nephew of "Yellowstone" actor Mo Brings Plenty and a student at Haskell Indian Nations University, played the role of Pete Plenty Clouds in the spinoff series "1923." The Lawrence Police Department had been searching for Brings Plenty after receiving 911 calls early Sunday morning reporting a disturbance at a Lawrence apartment.
Law enforcement officials had been actively pursuing Brings Plenty since Thursday, when officers from the Lawrence Police Department deployed drones in the south part of town in an effort to locate him. An arrest warrant had been issued for Brings Plenty by the Douglas County District Attorney's office in connection with the Sunday morning incident.
The Lawrence Police Department is assisting the Johnson County Sheriff's Office in its investigation. "Members of the Lawrence, Kansas Police Department are supporting family members and LKPD investigators are supporting our partner agency," said the Lawrence Police Department in a statement on Friday. "We will continue to do so moving forward."
The investigation into Brings Plenty's death is ongoing, with members of the Investigations, Crime Scene Investigators, and the Medical Examiner's office currently at the scene. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 913-782-0720.
