Friday evening at Elite Sports Club - North Shore witnessed an intense clash between the Marquette University women's tennis team and their BIG EAST rivals, Creighton. Despite their best efforts, the Golden Eagles succumbed to a narrow 4-3 defeat.
The match kicked off with a doubles showdown, where Marquette displayed their prowess by securing wins at the No. 2 and 3 spots, clinching the doubles point.
As singles play began, Creighton quickly turned the tide with two decisive victories, seizing the lead with a score of 2-1.
However, Marquette fought back valiantly. Tiana Windbuchler delivered a stellar performance at the No. 5 spot, securing a straight-set win (6-4, 7-5) to level the score at 2-2.
The momentum continued as senior Andie Weise dominated her singles match at No. 4, claiming victory in straight sets (6-3, 7-6) and putting the Golden Eagles in the lead at 3-2.
Despite their efforts, Creighton rallied and managed to secure wins at the No. 1 and No. 6 spots, ultimately clinching the team decision.
