The Denver Broncos are gearing up for the 2024 NFL draft, and they're keeping a close eye on Louisiana Lafayette tight end Neal Johnson. According to KPRC-TV's Aaron Wilson, the Broncos recently had a virtual pre-draft visit with Johnson. Standing tall at 6-4 and weighing 233 pounds, Johnson has quite a resume from his time with the Ragin' Cajuns, including 101 receptions for 1,196 yards and 11 touchdowns in 59 games. In 2023, he had a standout season with career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.
What makes Johnson an intriguing prospect is his speed, clocking in at 4.77 seconds in the 40-yard dash, as reported by DraftScout.com. With the Broncos eyeing him as a late-round pick or undrafted free agent, Johnson could provide much-needed depth at tight end for Denver. Although the Broncos have Adam Trautman and Greg Dulcich, with Lucas Krull as the only other true TE on the roster, adding Johnson could bolster their options. Nate Adkins, who played a hybrid tight end/fullback role last season, adds to the mix, but the Broncos are likely looking to bring in multiple tight ends this spring, be it through the draft or undrafted free agency, or perhaps both.
As the Broncos prepare for the draft, it's important to note that the 2024 NFL draft will take place in Detroit from April 25-27. Fans can stay updated on all of Denver's pre-draft prospect visits on Broncos Wire.
