When Chase Pletzke gears up for hockey, everything fits just right. From his snug skates to his perfectly sized winged helmet and his Maize and Blue jersey, it's all spot-on. But his journey from a kid in Bay City to the Frozen Four with the University of Michigan Wolverines has been anything but ordinary.
Growing up, Chase was always decked out in Michigan gear, even if it was a size too big. Now, skating with the Wolverines still feels surreal to him, even after 10 months. But this dream is about to get very real as he faces off against Boston College in the NCAA Division I men’s hockey national semifinal.
Pletzke, a graduate student, may not be the star of the team, but his high-energy play is invaluable. He knows his role and embraces it, bringing the team together. His lone goal of the season and crucial assist in key games show his impact, and he's ready to give it his all in the Frozen Four.
Growing up in a community not known for hockey, Chase's dedication stood out. He started skating at just 2 years old and never looked back. Playing for various teams across the country, he made sacrifices and put in the hard work to reach this point.
His journey took him to Miami University in Ohio, where he played 100 games and earned academic honors. But his dream wasn't complete yet. When the opportunity to join Michigan arose, he seized it. Now, playing for a program with a rich history and numerous championships, he's part of something special.
For Chase, reaching the Frozen Four is a dream come true. But he and his team aren't satisfied yet. They believe they're the best and are ready to prove it. As they continue their quest for a national championship, Chase knows the time is now. There's no looking back, only forward to the ultimate goal in college hockey.
