Boston Woman Snags Final $2.5M Merry & Bright Jackpot

A Boston woman just wrapped up the holiday scratch-game season in the best way possible — by snagging the last $2.5 million grand prize from the “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” ticket.

Celene Chen officially claimed her win on Nov. 10 and chose the cash option, walking away with over $1.6 million (before taxes). And she already knows what she wants next: a brand-new home.

The winning ticket came from Players Cafe at 950 Hyde Park Ave. in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood. The store is celebrating too, earning a $25,000 bonus just for selling the lucky ticket.

A few fun notes:

  • This was the third and final $2.5 million top prize in the game.

  • There’s still one $1 million prize out there waiting to be claimed.

The scratch game, released back in October 2024 for $10 a ticket, has definitely made this holiday a bright one for Chen — and maybe for one more future millionaire too.
