A 66-year-old woman from Townsend just hit one of the top prizes in Delaware Lottery’s Win Big Instant Game, turning a simple stop at a Smyrna Wawa into a life-changing moment. She picked up her lucky ticket at the Wawa on 5632 DuPont Parkway and claimed her prize at Lottery Headquarters on Oct. 27.

She’s been playing for about a decade—usually grabbing a handful of tickets and gravitating toward newer games with bigger jackpots. This time, she triple-checked her ticket just to be sure. It was her biggest win ever, and she wasn’t taking any chances.

So what’s she doing with all that cash? Keeping it practical. She plans to pay down bills and build up savings, saying the win will make retirement “a lot more comfortable” for her and her spouse. According to officials, the excitement at the lottery office was real—everyone was thrilled for her.

Before anything else—sign the back of your ticket in ink. Once signed, ownership can’t be changed.

For smaller prizes:

  • $599 or less: Redeem at any lottery retailer or mail/bring to the Delaware Lottery Office.

  • Up to $2,500: Can also be claimed at select retailer claim centers across the state.

For $600 to $5,000:
Claim Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. at any of these locations:

  • Delaware Lottery, Dover

  • Division of Revenue, Georgetown

  • Division of Revenue, Wilmington

For prizes over $5,001:
Head to the Delaware Lottery Office with:

  • Photo ID (name + address)

  • Social Security card
