“I was up all night long,” he laughed. “My adrenaline was flowing.” The excitement was so real, he immediately called his daughters at 12:30 a.m. to share the news—probably giving them a mini heart attack in the process.
Meares snagged his winning ticket through Online Play, defying 1 in 1.8 million odds. Instead of taking the $25,000 a year, he opted for a $390,000 lump sum, which totaled $279,826 after taxes.
Looking ahead, he’s already dreaming big—and family-style. Meares says he plans to buy his family a set of utility terrain vehicles so they can ride together, making memories fueled by his lucky win.
