Texas Powerball Winner Claims $410M, Plans to Give Back to Community

A lucky Texas ticket holder just made history with half of the near-record $1.787 billion Powerball jackpot! The Seven Bridges Revocable Trust from Fredericksburg claimed the prize from the Sept. 6 drawing, taking the cash option of about $410.3 million.

The winning ticket was bought at Big’s on U.S. Highway 290 in Fredericksburg, earning the retailer a $250,000 bonus. Unlike usual random picks, the winner chose numbers with personal meaning—though one ended up different than planned. Fate, it seems, had its own twist.

The morning after the Saturday drawing, the winner was on their way to church when they checked the numbers. Realizing they had won, they double-checked before tucking the ticket into the glove box and heading inside for services. The lucky numbers? 11-23-44-61-62 with Powerball 17.

A representative from the trust shared, “We are Texas true to the state and its values. This is a moment of gratitude for us, a blessing we plan to enjoy and share with those who serve our community. We ask for privacy as we look forward to enjoying our lives together as a family. God bless Texas.”

This marks only the third time a Powerball jackpot has been won in Texas since joining the game in 2010. Courtney Arbour, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, praised the milestone, noting that every ticket supports vital funding for public education and veterans’ services.

For context, the Sept. 6 jackpot ranks as the second-largest in U.S. history, just behind the $2.04 billion Powerball won in California in 2022. The other winning ticket from that drawing was sold in Missouri.
