A lucky Massachusetts Lottery player has claimed the first grand prize from a brand-new scratch game.
The winning ticket came from the $5 “50X” game, which launched on June 9. The game offers a top prize of $50,000 per year for 20 years. The winning ticket was purchased at The Public in Somerville.
The odds of hitting the grand prize are 1 in 3,276,000. Four grand-prize tickets were placed into circulation across Massachusetts, and now that one has been claimed, three top prizes are still up for grabs.
Monday was also a busy day for lottery winners statewide. At least 990 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed, including:
- 14 prizes in Springfield
- 20 prizes in Worcester
- 57 prizes in Boston
The Massachusetts State Lottery publishes a daily list of winning tickets worth more than $600, giving players a way to keep track of bigger prizes.
So far this year, the biggest Massachusetts Lottery prize claimed was a massive $29.71 million Megabucks jackpot. That winning ticket was sold at King Mart in Holyoke.
