A simple mistake turned into a life-changing payday for an Oakland County man who won an incredible $1.05 million jackpot from a Michigan Lottery Fast Cash game.
The 68-year-old winner, who chose to stay anonymous, bought the lucky ticket on June 6 at a Speedway gas station in South Lyon. Ironically, it was for the one Fast Cash game he usually tried to avoid — Detroit Lions Rush For Riches.
The man said he regularly purchases Fast Cash tickets whenever the jackpot climbs above $700,000. Recently, he had been telling cashiers to give him any Fast Cash game except the Detroit Lions-themed one because he hadn't been having much luck with it.
This time, however, he forgot to mention that request.
Instead, the cashier printed a Detroit Lions Rush For Riches ticket. The player folded it up, slipped it into his pocket, and didn't check it until the next morning.
What happened next was unforgettable.
After looking over the ticket, he realized he had hit the jackpot. Shocked by what he saw, he stopped his wife as she walked by and handed her the ticket.
