Gas Station Stop Turns into $50,000 Payday for Arkansas Man
OSCEOLA, Ark. — What started as a quick gas stop after work turned into a life-changing moment for Craighead County’s Jacob Yates.
Yates, who usually buys multiple scratch-off tickets at a time, decided to try his luck on the $20 “$50,000 Frenzy” instant game from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. He picked up four tickets at Jordan’s Kwik Stop #69, 4365 W. Keiser in Osceola, and began scratching them right there in the parking lot.
“I thought I had only won $10,000 at first,” Yates admitted. But a closer look revealed a total prize of $50,000 — one $10,000 ticket and two $20,000 winners.
The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery noted that Yates had been keeping an eye on recent ticket releases and knew the game still had several top prizes up for grabs. His habit of buying multiple tickets certainly paid off this time.
For Yates, the win isn’t just about the cash. “This money will finally allow me to relocate to be with my daughters,” he shared.
From a routine gas stop to a $50,000 jackpot, Yates’ story is a reminder that sometimes, taking a small chance can lead to big surprises.
