Haircut Cash Turns into $100K Win for North Carolina Man

What started as an ordinary Saturday turned into a life-changing moment for Durham resident Oscar Galdamez Rosales. All he wanted was a quick haircut — but fate had a different plan.

After realizing he didn’t have enough cash to pay his barber, Rosales made a quick detour to the Lighthouse Food Mart on Holloway Street to hit the ATM. While there, something caught his eye — a $20 Ruby Red 7’s scratch-off ticket.

“Something just told me to buy it,” he said. “So I went for it.”

He paid his barber, then headed back to his truck to scratch the ticket. That’s when the surprise hit — a $100,000 jackpot!

“I was definitely feeling a lot of emotions,” Rosales shared with North Carolina Education Lottery officials. “It was unbelievable.”

Now, he’s thinking carefully about what to do next. “This will help me complete some goals that I have,” he said. “It’s definitely going to help.”

Talk about a lucky trim — what began as a simple haircut ended up being a six-figure payday!
