Illinois Man Wins $1.3 Million Lucky Day Lotto Prize After Last-Minute Gas Station Stop

A quick stop for a drink turned into a life-changing moment for one Illinois man after he picked up a Lucky Day Lotto ticket on a whim and walked away with a $1.3 million jackpot.

The Chicagoland resident, who chose to stay anonymous, bought a Quick Pick ticket at the Oswego BP gas station in Oswego. During the June 11 evening drawing, his ticket matched all five winning numbers—1, 13, 19, 27, and 35—to claim the top prize.

"I just stopped by the store for a drink and thought, 'Why not?'" the winner said. "I played a Quick Pick, and it turned out to be a lucky day."

A Lucky Repeat After 15 Years

This wasn't the first time fortune smiled on him.

The married winner shared that about 15 years ago, he won $45,000 playing the same lottery game when it was known as Little Lotto. After scanning his latest ticket, he could hardly believe lightning had struck twice.

What's Next for the Winner?

The jackpot will help the couple achieve some long-term goals, including:

  • 🏡 Buying a new home
  • 💰 Planning for a comfortable retirement
  • ❤️ Helping secure their family's future

"We are just so grateful for this blessing," the winner said. "I'm sure our kids will be, too."

Bonus for the Retailer

The Oswego BP store that sold the winning ticket will also celebrate, receiving a $13,000 retailer bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.

About Lucky Day Lotto

Lucky Day Lotto drawings are held twice every day, with jackpots starting at $100,000, giving players two chances daily to win big.

Another Recent Lucky Day Lotto Winner

Earlier this year, in March, another Illinois player—an anonymous mom known as Jenny—won $800,000 playing Lucky Day Lotto.

Instead of choosing random numbers, she used a combination of her birthday and her children's birthdays.

"My usual numbers are always a combination of my birthday and my kids' birthdays," Jenny said. "I was in complete shock when I saw I had won."
