A Maryland man got a pleasant surprise when a forgotten Mega Millions ticket turned out to be worth $30,000! The Mount Airy resident had tucked the ticket into his car’s sun visor and completely forgotten about it until it unexpectedly fell onto his lap weeks later.
The man purchased the ticket on October 2 at a 7-Eleven on Ridgeside Drive in Mount Airy, according to Maryland Lottery officials. After rediscovering it, he checked the winning numbers and realized he had matched four of the five numbers. However, he wasn’t sure how much his ticket was worth.
To find out, he returned to the same 7-Eleven and asked a store clerk to scan the ticket. That’s when he learned he had won $30,000!
The lucky winner plans to save most of his prize for a rainy day, but he also has something special in mind. He intends to take his roommate out to dinner to thank him for driving him to collect the winnings.
Sometimes, a forgotten lottery ticket can turn into an unexpected payday!
