A New Bedford man is planning an unforgettable trip to Portugal after landing a $1 million lottery prize on a Massachusetts State Lottery scratch ticket.
Armando Moniz scored the second-to-last $1 million grand prize available in the “Triple 777” scratch game. Instead of taking the prize as an annuity, he chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes.
Moniz already has a few plans for his unexpected windfall. According to the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, he intends to:
- Help support his family
- Invest some of the money
- Take a long-awaited trip to Portugal
The winning ticket was purchased at Sebastian’s Cafe & Sports Bar, located at 110 County Street in New Bedford. The store also got some good news—the retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the million-dollar ticket.
For Moniz, the big win means more than just a jackpot. It gives him the chance to help his loved ones, plan for the future, and enjoy a special trip along the way.
