An Oakland County man got the surprise of a lifetime when he discovered he had won a $1.25 million Lotto 47 jackpot—and his family got to see his reaction firsthand.
The 73-year-old winner, who decided to remain anonymous, regularly plays Lotto 47 and bought his winning ticket online. His numbers matched all six numbers drawn on September 9: 2, 12, 20, 30, 31 and 42.
The big news came late at night when he logged into his account to check his ticket before bed. A pop-up appeared announcing his massive prize.
At first, he and his wife thought it had to be a scam.
“We both thought it was a scam,” he recalled.
After logging out and back in, the same winning notification appeared. They checked the official numbers and realized the jackpot was real. Needless to say, sleep was hard to come by that night.
A Family Surprise
The next day, the winner gathered his children for a family FaceTime call. Instead of simply telling them the news, he sent everyone a screenshot of the winning notification.
