A $2 Powerball ticket could turn into a life-changing payday — and Florida players have had plenty of luck lately.
After an Illinois player hit the massive $1.04 billion jackpot on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Powerball jackpot reset to $20 million. Since then, three drawings have passed without a jackpot winner, pushing the prize to an estimated $68 million for Saturday, August 22. The cash option is about $29.5 million.
Florida Players Keep Winning
Florida has been on a bit of a lottery hot streak. During the Monday, August 17, drawing, the winning numbers were 8-15-25-49-65, with Powerball 22 and a 4X Power Play.
While nobody won the jackpot, a Florida ticket matched all five white balls for a $1 million prize.
Florida also had a $1 million winner in the Saturday, August 8, drawing. The ticket, sold at Circle K, 1026 Walt Williams Road in Lakeland, matched five numbers. The winner later claimed the prize as a one-time cash payment.
What Happened in the $1.04 Billion Drawing?
The winning numbers from Wednesday, August 12, were 4-26-66-67-69, with Powerball 9 and a 2X Power Play.
The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Quincy, Illinois, and lottery officials confirmed that ticket sales pushed the final jackpot to $1.04 billion. The estimated cash option was $450.5 million.
Other big prizes were also won:
- A Florida ticket and tickets from Arizona, California and North Carolina each won $1 million by matching five numbers.
- A Massachusetts ticket matched five numbers plus the Power Play for $2 million.
- The $1 million Florida ticket was purchased at a RaceTrac in Fort Myers. The winner, who lives in Cape Coral, later claimed the cash prize.
Quincy is located in western Illinois, roughly 135 miles north of St. Louis and about 300 miles southwest of Chicago.
