A single Powerball ticket has hit the massive $1.04 billion jackpot, and the lucky ticket was sold in Illinois.
The winning numbers from Wednesday night’s drawing were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with 9 as the Powerball. The jackpot was the biggest Powerball prize of the year and ranked as the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.
The winning ticket was purchased at a gas station in Quincy, Illinois. While one player claimed the giant jackpot, another lucky ticket holder in Massachusetts also scored big.
Massachusetts Has a $2 Million Winner
A $2 million-winning ticket was sold at Robinson News Convenience on Eastern Avenue in Malden, according to the Massachusetts Lottery.
The store will also receive a $20,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Massachusetts also had three tickets worth $50,000 each. They were sold at:
- A 7-Eleven on Bridge Street in Dedham
- Cumberland Farms on Washington Street in Attleboro
- Cumberland Farms on West State Street in Granby
No winners have stepped forward yet. Each winner has one year to claim their prize.
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Saturday night, with the jackpot resetting to an estimated $20 million.
Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold across 45 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom. With jackpot odds of roughly 1 in 292.2 million, winning the top prize is an incredibly rare feat.
