Princess Catherine's Brave Battle: Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Begin

Written by Published

Catherine, Princess of Wales, shared in a video message released by Kensington Palace that she has cancer and has started chemotherapy. She expressed that the diagnosis came as a huge shock after a tough couple of months. The cancer was discovered during follow-up testing after a major abdominal surgery in January, but she did not disclose the type or stage.

In her message, the former Kate Middleton, 42, thanked the public for their recent support and requested some privacy for herself and her family during her treatment. Her health has been a topic of speculation since she withdrew from public view late last year. Kensington Palace had announced on Jan. 17 that Kate was recovering from planned surgery and was unlikely to resume public duties until after Easter on March 31.

The news of Kate's diagnosis adds to a challenging time for the royal family, following the recent announcement of King Charles III's cancer diagnosis. Despite the setbacks, messages of support have poured in for Kate. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak praised her bravery and expressed the country's support for her recovery.

Earlier this month, a photo of Kate with her children — Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and Prince George — was released on Mother's Day in the U.K. The photo, credited to husband Prince William, was later revealed to be edited by Kate herself, highlighting her skills beyond her royal duties.

In response to the news, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed sadness and offered well wishes for Kate's recovery, emphasizing the importance of respecting her privacy during this challenging time.
