Lottery Players Can Now Claim Older Winning Tickets After Record Review Is Completed

Good news for National Lottery players who purchased tickets before June 1, 2026. Sizekhaya Holdings has officially completed a major review of historical prize records, clearing the way for eligible winners to submit claims and receive their prize money.

The company confirmed that it successfully validated and reconciled lottery and Sports Pools prize data that was transferred during the changeover between lottery operators. This important step ensures that prize records are accurate, complete, and ready for processing.

What This Means for Players

  • Winning tickets purchased before June 1, 2026 can now be claimed.
  • Prize payments will move forward through the normal National Lottery claims process.
  • Players who have been waiting for confirmation can finally start submitting their claims.

According to Sizekhaya Chief Operating Officer Fundi Sithebe, completing the review was a key milestone in protecting players and maintaining trust in the National Lottery system.

He explained that the company worked quickly to verify the historical records once they received them, ensuring that valid winners would be paid while still meeting strict verification standards.

“We know many players have been waiting for clarity regarding older tickets,” Sithebe said. He added that the company is pleased that claims processing and prize payments can now resume, reflecting its commitment to transparency, accountability, and putting players first.

The National Lotteries Commission also welcomed the completion of the process. Commissioner Jodi Scholtz said the successful review provides certainty for players and helps ensure that legitimate prize claims can be processed according to established regulations and governance requirements.

She emphasized that the Commission remains focused on protecting lottery participants and supporting measures that strengthen transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the National Lottery.

While most claims are expected to be processed normally, Sizekhaya noted that a small number of tickets may require additional checks before payment can be approved.

Players whose tickets cannot be verified immediately are encouraged to contact the National Lottery Call Centre at 086 102 6000, where claims will undergo further review through standard verification procedures.

Sizekhaya said these safeguards are designed to make sure every prize is paid accurately and reaches the rightful winner. The company also thanked players, retailers, and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation throughout the transition period.
