Texas Woman Wins $37,951 After Stranger Encourages Her to Play Lottery Game
A Texas nurse visiting family and friends in Maryland scored a $37,951 lottery win after a stranger encouraged her to try Racetrax for the very first time.
The woman traveled to Baltimore in September and stopped at Quick Mart on Annapolis Road in Halethorpe. While there, a stranger suggested she give the Maryland Lottery's virtual horse racing game a shot.
According to the winner, the man said he had a good feeling about her chances. He even helped her choose numbers and complete the betting form.
A Small Bet Leads to a Big Win
The nurse placed a 50-cent bet on a Superfecta Wheel covering 20 races. Her total wager came to $70.
Her decision paid off during the sixth race, when the horses finished in the exact order needed for her winning ticket.
However, she didn't realize she had won until she returned home to Texas. After finding the ticket in her purse, she checked the numbers on the Maryland Lottery's website.
At first, she wasn't entirely sure what she was seeing. A family member helped her confirm the exciting news: she had won $37,951!
The winner then learned she would need to return to Baltimore to claim her prize.
What Will She Do With the Money?
The lucky player has plans for her winnings. She intends to use the money to start her own mobile transportation business.
What began as a casual suggestion from a stranger turned into a memorable lottery win—and potentially the start of a new business venture.
