A Florida man is planning a major life change after winning $358,104 in Michigan’s Fantasy 5 lottery.
The 75-year-old winner was visiting Michigan with his wife to spend time with family when he purchased a Fantasy 5 ticket at a Wesco gas station on Colby Road in Whitehall, about 20 miles northwest of Muskegon.
He said he often plays the same Fantasy 5 numbers whenever he visits Michigan because of his family ties to the state.
His lucky ticket matched all five numbers in the June 24 drawing:
- 03-12-17-23-27
- Prize: $358,104
After the drawing, he scanned his ticket using the Michigan Lottery app and was stunned by what he saw.
“I yelled to my wife: ‘We just won the lottery!’” he recalled. The couple was so excited that they stayed awake most of the night celebrating.
Now, the unexpected windfall could bring an even bigger change. The winner said he plans to pay off bills, become debt-free and purchase a home in Michigan so he and his wife can live closer to their family.
“Winning is life changing,” he said, adding that the prize will help them move closer to loved ones and start a new chapter.
