A Michigan woman got the surprise of a lifetime after discovering that a lottery ticket she thought had won $10,000 was actually worth $634,679.
Margaret Sheppard, 65, of Lincoln Park, bought the winning Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket while stopping at a store to pick up a Powerball ticket for the big jackpot. She decided to grab a Fast Cash ticket, too, but had no idea it would turn into a massive payday.
Sheppard checked the ticket while she was still at the store and realized she had hit the jackpot. However, when she looked at the store’s Fast Cash sign, she mistakenly believed the jackpot was only $10,000.
“I thought I had just missed the big jackpot that was over $600,000,” Sheppard recalled.
She told the clerk she had won, but the employee checked the ticket and gave her some unbelievable news: she had actually won the $634,679 jackpot.
The shock was so intense that Sheppard said she felt like she was going to have a heart attack. The clerk even walked her out to her car before she signed the ticket and called her husband to share the incredible news.
Sheppard purchased the winning ticket at Lincoln Park Smokers & More on Southfield Road in Lincoln Park. She has since claimed her prize at Michigan Lottery headquarters.
Now, she already has plans for the unexpected windfall:
- 🏠 Make some much-needed home improvements
- 🎢 Take her grandchildren to Disney World
- 💰 Enjoy the life-changing prize she never expected
What started as a quick lottery purchase turned into a $634,679 surprise that Sheppard certainly won't forget.
